It's time to start thinking about getting our Oktoberfest going, which is exactly what Head Brewer Jeff is doing. Jeff brings a recipe for John Palmer's Octoberfest recipe. We also have a good number of new faces at this fun meeting.
This month Head Brewer David brews a Ferocious IPA, a kit donated to us from Midwest Supply. We also taste the Rocky Redhead, which was our stein beer from January.
This month we're brewing a Maibock. Matt was supposed to be the Head Brewer, but unfortunately, his work kept him from attending the meeting. Luckily, he was able to provide the ingredients prior to brewing. So Noel took over as Head Brewer in this double decocted maibock
We start 2013 with an exciting style of beer. The mighty Stein Beer. Watch as we heat up rocks and dump them into the wort. It was a learning experience that we all had fun with. So much fun, that we plan on making the stein beer, an annual event.
It's the last month of 2012 and we've decided to finish with a big beer. Head Brewer Jeff is brewing a barleywine named Mutt Ass Barleywine. We also taste a selection of home-brews by Noel to include Sour Berlin, Ornery Saison, Gretle's a Bitter Bitch IPA and Columbus Day IPA.
This month we brew a SMaSH IPA called Columbus Day IPA. We also experiment with Brew in a Bag, which makes our brew day much easier.
This month we visit Monkish Brewing in Torrance, CA. Monkish is a new brewery in Torrance that specialized in Belgian Trappist ales. We talk with Head Brewer Henry Nguyen about his beers and his business. The rest of the club enjoy the incredible beers at Monkish.
This month we're brewing Golden Tiger Pils by Head Brewer Bobby. We're also sampling the Oktoberfest, brewed in June, by Head Brewer Jeff. It is a great night for lagers.
This month we brew a very special beer called Sour Watermelon Wildfire Wheat by Head Brewer Devin. We also sample a huge variety of homebrews and craft beer to include Triple Sack Saison, Ornery Saison, using hop and food infusers, and a huge variety of craft beers brought by Devin on his trip to Arizona. Watch the fun.
This month we brew Jared's Triple Sack Saison. We also do some home brew tasting of last April's club brew of Oldy Moldy Ale. But what we're really excited about is the incredible craft beers out for the tasting to include, Mammoth Brewing's Apocalypse Lager and Boulevard Brewing's Single Wide IPA.
